AI Policy
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Al-Wa'iyah Journal recognizes the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automated tools in academic writing and publishing. The following policy applies to all parties involved in the publication process:
For Authors:
- Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, or similar large language models) in preparing their manuscript, beyond basic language correction or formatting.
- Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and validity of any content produced with the assistance of AI tools.
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
- Generative AI cannot be cited as a source or reference.
For Reviewers and Editors:
- Peer reviewers and editors must not use generative AI to write their review assessments or editorial decisions, due to risks such as confidentiality breaches, superficial feedback, and inaccurate information.
- Minor use of AI for language editing or reformatting is acceptable if disclosed.
- All AI-assisted processes must be overseen by a human editor or staff member.
For the Journal:
- Any routine use of automated tools by the journal will be disclosed to authors and readers.
- The journal ensures that human oversight is maintained in all editorial decisions.
