Author Guidelines
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Al-Wa'iyah: Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counseling publishes original scholarly articles in the following fields:
- Islamic Guidance and Counseling (Bimbingan dan Konseling Islam)
- Islamic Extension and Da'wah (Penyuluhan dan Dakwah Islam)
- Islamic Preaching and Communication (Dakwah dan Komunikasi Islam)
- Islamic Psychology (Psikologi Islam)
Articles submitted must:
- Be original, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in any other journal simultaneously.
- Be based on empirical research, theoretical analysis, or practical innovation.
- Contain no plagiarism. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. Maximum similarity index allowed: 30%.
- Be written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic.

2. Article Structure
Al-Wa'iyah uses the IMRaD + CAR format with the following proportions:

a. Title
- Ideally composed of PMR: Problem – Method – Result
- Specific, informative, and reflects the content of the article
- Do not include author name or institutional affiliation in the title
b. Author Name and Affiliation
- Full name without academic titles or ranks
- Last name must NOT be abbreviated
- Full institutional affiliation: institution name, city, country
- Corresponding author's email must be included
- All co-authors must be listed completely and consistently
c. Abstract
- Single paragraph, one-column format, 150–250 words
- If the article is written in Indonesian: abstract must be provided in BOTH Indonesian AND English
- If the article is written in English or Arabic: abstract in that language only
- Must contain: (1) problem statement, (2) method, (3) scientific findings, (4) short conclusion
- No citations, figures, or tables within the abstract
- Font: Garamond 10 pt, single spacing
d. Keywords
- 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;)
- Must reflect the key concepts of the article
e. Introduction Must include (in order): general background, review of prior literature (state of the art) as basis for the scientific novelty statement, statement of scientific novelty, and research problem or hypothesis. The research objective must be stated at the end of the introduction. Literature review is NOT written as a separate section — it is integrated into the introduction as a state-of-the-art review.
Note: the Method may also be included within the Introduction and does not need to be written as a separate subsection.
f. Result and Discussion Present research findings and their discussion. Findings must be supported by adequate data and must answer the research questions or hypotheses stated in the introduction.
g. Conclusion Describes the answer to the hypothesis and/or research objectives, or the findings obtained. The conclusion is NOT a repetition of the results and discussion, but a summary of findings as expected in the objectives or hypothesis. Suggestions for future research may also be included.
h. Acknowledgment (if applicable) Acknowledge funding sources, institutional support, or individuals who contributed substantially but do not qualify as authors.

3. Tables and Figures
- Numbered sequentially: Table 1, Table 2 / Figure 1, Figure 2
- Tables: title placed ABOVE the table
- Figures: caption placed BELOW the figure
- Minimum resolution for figures: 300 DPI
- All tables and figures must be referenced within the article text
C. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR RESEARCH INVOLVING HUMAN PARTICIPANTS
For studies involving human participants (e.g., counseling cases, psychological assessments, interviews, questionnaires, or observations), authors must:
- State in the manuscript that ethical clearance was obtained from a relevant ethics committee and include the approval reference number.
- Confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians.
- Ensure all participant data is fully anonymized in the manuscript.
D. CITATION AND REFERENCE STYLE
Al-Wa'iyah uses the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (Full Note / Footnote system).
All footnotes and bibliography must be managed using a reference management application such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or equivalent.
Minimum reference requirements:
- At least 80% of references must be from primary sources (scientific journals)
- At least 80% of references must be from publications within the last 10 years
- Each article must contain a minimum of 10 references

E. TRANSLITERATION
Arabic transliteration must follow the transliteration system of the Library of Congress (LC). Diacritics should be used consistently throughout the manuscript.
F. SUBMISSION
- Manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS platform at: https://journal.al-waiyah.assunnah.ac.id
- Authors will receive an acknowledgment of receipt via OJS upon successful submission.
- All peer review correspondence will be conducted through the OJS platform.
G. REVIEW PROCESS
Al-Wa'iyah applies a Double-Blind Peer Review process:
- All submitted manuscripts are first screened by the Editor-in-Chief for scope and basic quality requirements
- Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two qualified reviewers
- Neither authors nor reviewers know each other's identities
- Review decisions: Accept / Minor Revision / Major Revision / Reject
- Authors will be notified of the decision via OJS
- Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within 14 days of receiving the review decision
H. AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- All listed authors must have contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported work
- The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring all co-authors have approved the final manuscript
- Any change in authorship after submission must be approved by the Editor-in-Chief
- Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest in the manuscript
